About CARTRIA®

A Physician’s Perspective on Practice Purchasing.

CARTRIA® is a physician-led healthcare consulting and marketing company helping practices identify practical ways to improve purchasing. Its approach draws on patient care, practice leadership, and cancer center development.

Leadership and Experience

Mark Harrison, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist with 40 years of experience in clinical practice and healthcare consulting. He is Owner/CEO of Valley Cancer Associates, an independent oncology practice in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

In 2004, Dr. Harrison founded Urorad Healthcare to unite urology and radiation oncology practices in providing comprehensive care for patients with prostate cancer. Within five years, Urorad developed a nationwide network of 20 cancer centers delivering these combined services.

Why This Initiative Began

Running a practice means balancing patient care with the operations that support it. Medical supply purchasing adds decisions about pricing, supplier reliability, product availability, and suitability to an already demanding day.

Through his practice at Valley Cancer Associates, Dr. Harrison has experienced Grapevine’s purchasing convenience, cost savings, and dedicated purchasing-agent support firsthand. That experience prompted him to bring the opportunity to other practices through CARTRIA®.

A Clear Role

CARTRIA® helps practices assess their purchasing needs and arranges a personalized demonstration with Grapevine. Grapevine provides the purchasing platform, onboarding, and purchasing-agent services.

The evaluation gives each practice an opportunity to review supplier compatibility, service scope, purchasing authorizations, and applicable fees before deciding whether to proceed.

Initial Introductions

CARTRIA® plans to introduce Grapevine to the following two organizations to discuss its potential value for independent oncology practices and its relevance to medical supply purchasing in radiation oncology.

Southern Oncology Association of Practices

Valley Cancer Associates is represented on the Southern Oncology Association of Practices’ board of directors, providing an established connection for this outreach.

The Southern Oncology Association of Practices (SOAP) supports independent community oncology practices through contracting opportunities, education, and professional networking.

American Society for Radiation Oncology

The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) serves radiation oncologists and other members of the radiation oncology care team.

Outreach Planning Figures

CARTRIA®’s outreach planning considers two distinct measures:

  • SOAP, practice purchasing: Approximately 35 independent oncology practices with combined annual oncology drug purchases of $500,000. This figure describes drug purchasing only, not total medical supply spending.
  • ASTRO, professional reach: ASTRO has 11,000 radiation oncologist members representing 2,500 radiation oncology centers nationwide.

These introductions build on Dr. Harrison’s longstanding personal relationships within both SOAP and ASTRO.

This planned outreach does not imply endorsement, partnership, or commitment by either organization.
